This is a Catholic Men’s Fraternal Benefit Society that was founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney to render financial aid to member and their families. Some of the activities of Corpus Christi Knights of Columbus Council include involvement in and financial contributions to: the Parish, the Centre for Life, the Janeway Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Education, the Seniors Resource Centre, and Scholarships for children of members. Monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month.
Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.
