St. Vincent de Paul was born at Pouy, France on April 24, 1581. He was ordained a priest on September 23, 1600. Vincent devoted himself entirely to the alleviation of the sufferings of the poor. Vincent died in Paris on September 27, 1660 and was canonized in 1737. Pope Leo XIII declared him patron saint of all works of charity.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 to help impoverished people living in the slums of Paris, France. It is a catholic organization dedicated to the works of charity. The primary figure behind the Society’s founding was Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, a French lawyer, author and professor. who was a 20 year old Sorbonne student when he and 6 other students formed the Society to help the poor.

The Mission of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
implies that as Vincentians we:
- see Christ in anyone who suffers
- come together as a family
- have personal contact with the poor
- help in all possible ways
Corpus Christi Conference began around 1990 and continues to attend to the needs of the poor of the area, particularly by providing food hampers. Members strive, in a spirit of justice, charity, mutual help, and solidarity with the poor, and by personal commitment, to ease the hardships of those who suffer.
